FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At Mission 22, as in the military, service is one of our core values. Our organization exists to provide information and support to Veterans and their families when they need it most. As part of this goal, we strive to answer any and every question about our Veteran support services, programs, events, Ambassador program, and our organization in general. If you can’t find the answer to your question below, please reach out to our team.

What’s the meaning behind the name Mission 22?

The name ‘Mission 22’ came out of a campaign we ran several years ago, called #Mission22, to raise awareness about the number of suicides per day that were being recorded in the Veteran community. The number 22 comes from the number of Veterans who lose their lives every day by suicide, released after a study done by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs in 2013.

What to do if I or someone I know is considering suicide?

Mission 22 is not a crisis organization. If you or someone you know is in crisis and needs to speak with someone immediately please call the Veterans Crisis Line 1-800-273-8255 (Press 1), text 838255, call 911, or proceed to the nearest ER.

We also have a few partners who are wonderful and who you can access anytime. Vets4Warriors is a perfect starting point, you can chat or talk anonymously to a fellow Vet, someone who has had similar experiences and knows what you’re going through. They also do a great job of guiding folks to a supportive and structured place where they can begin to heal.

Stop Soldier Suicide is also a great crisis organization that works long-term with Vets. They have a crisis line: 844-235-2764, and your call is free and confidential.

What percentage of donations go directly to helping veterans and their families?

100% of your donation supports veterans, their families and communities. 87.8% pays for programs and the balance pays to support those programs. Our free services in mental health, wellness, physical fitness, community support, youth program, community education and memorials help support veterans and their entire families.

Where can I see your financial details?

To see our full financial picture, we recommend checking out our Financials page here.

Do you offer cash or loans to Veterans?

At this time our mission, as defined by our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization tax filing, covers funding for Veteran wellness programs and for funding our Ambassador community to raise awareness and funds for these programs. We do not offer any direct cash funding, grants, or loans.

What is a Mission 22 Ambassador and how do I become one?

We have a wonderful community of over 3,500 Ambassadors in all 50 states as well as some overseas locales, and they raise awareness and funds for Mission 22 by connecting with folks at events to talk about what we have available to Veterans and their families. The application for the Ambassador program is open from the 1st-14th of every month, and we review apps the second half of each month. You can find more information and apply here.

How do I form a partnership with Mission 22?

We certainly love to have partners spreading awareness and raising funds for Mission 22 so we can continue supporting Veterans through our programs! Carley Hill is our Community Outreach Coordinator and can get you all you need to start a partnership with Mission 22. You can reach her at Carley@mission22.com.

Can you be present at my event?

We do get involved with in-person events, whether it’s just to have a table present with Mission 22 Ambassadors and program information, or sometimes larger efforts. Please email the details of your event to social@mission22.com, including the date, location, time, and projected attendance, and we’ll see what we can do!

Are your logo and slogans trademarked?

Yes, our logo is trademarked, and so are our slogans. We do authorize their use on a case-by-case basis and have trademark agreements for partner use. All approvals go through our Community Outreach Coordinator, Carley Hill. Please reach out to her at Carley@mission22.com.

Can I donate to a particular state?

Unfortunately, at this time we don’t have a specific fund for each state, but rest assured any funds donated will help American Veterans and their families through long-term wellness programs.

Do you have a PayPal account?

Yes. We’ll come up under PayPal.me/Mission22, and it will say ElderHeart Inc (our original nonprofit name), DBA Mission 22.

Do you have a Venmo account?

No, at this time we don’t have a Venmo account.

What is your tax ID number?

Mission 22’s federal ID number is 46-2750726.

Is my donation tax deductible?
